Education is the 7th point of ActionCOACH culture.
John Wooden said, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.” How true this is! Most people will agree that they don’t know EVERYTHING, but when confronted with a new concept or idea, we almost always react by reminding ourselves why the new idea does not apply to us. We convince ourselves that our business is different, our employees are particularly difficult, our customers are especially unpredictable or demanding, our location is unique. We know that the idea won’t apply to us.
But the truth is that we are not that different. We all can learn new skills, we can change our beliefs about business, people, ourselves. ActionCOACH’s 7th Point of Culture is Education. As an Action Coach, I commit to learn from my mistakes. I consistently learn, grow and master so that I can help my fellow team members and clients learn, grow and master too. I am an educator and allow my clients to make their own intelligent decisions about their future remembering that it is their future. I impart practical and usable knowledge rather than just theory.
That’s what we mean by education. How about you? What do you do to continually learn? Can I suggest one of our workshops? They are great ways to step out of the comfort zone – but not too far out! We have fun while challenging each other to learn and consider new ideas.
